In situations like these, the victim is fully dependent on the first person to arrive and assist at the scene of the emergency. Therefore, this person, also known as the Emergency Responder, must be well-versed with the right skills to save lives. The Growing Need for Emergency Responders There is an increasing demand for emergency medical services practitioners in India. In areas such as fire services, police, and various industries, the demand for emergency responders (ERs) is rising expeditiously. In some of the remote and rural areas, an ER is a key provider of emergency medical care. As an emergency responder, you will be playing a significant role in treating and assessing patients in case of traumas and medical emergencies. You will be taking care of responsibilities such as initial scene survey, pharmacology, patient stabilization, oxygen therapy, AED administration, and medical care.

The curriculum also comprises the skills required by individuals for presenting emergency medical care by utilizing limited equipment. After the successful completion of the course, the trainees will be able to perform the following key functions:

  • Recognition of the seriousness of the condition of a patient or the extent of injuries for assessing the need of emergency medical care
  • Administering appropriate emergency medical care in case of injuries that are life threatening related to circulation, breathing, and airway

Minimizing Adverse Impacts of Emergencies by Means of Active Response The emergency responder training provides individuals with the right skills and knowledge to respond to medical emergencies appropriately. This training will help in establishing readiness to minimize the adverse impact of such emergencies by means of active response. Processes such as planning, training, equipping, and exercising the emergency response are the key highlights of this training. These processes are aimed at providing the right action plans to individuals so they may take an active response in case of emergency situations.

This emergency responder training will provide individuals with practical hands-on training to handle emergency situations along with providing the theoretical components. In addition to providing CPR training and First Aid, first responders will also be taught to identify a medical emergency. The training includes monitoring of the vital signs, planning, and moving the victim from an unsafe environment to a safe environment.

The trainees will further be taught to ensure that the victim has sufficient ventilation and airway in order to breathe. The training curriculum also comprises the emergency administration of oxygen and individuals handling this role will be able to record findings along with taking an appropriate action in an effectual manner. It will also emphasize on calming and reassuring rapport with the victim. Moving further, the training will include things such as controlling of bleeding, applying a splint, and handling of other situations that are unsafe.

Hence, providing scenario-based training and knowledge to the trainees form a vital and critical aspect of this emergency responder training. The individuals who have completed this training program will receive a certification, named as the Emergency Responder Certificate, for providing First Aid in medical emergencies.
