VIVO Diabetes Educator Technician course is available at the following Skill Centres


After completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge of epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, prognosis, and clinical guidelines of diabetes consistent with the practice level of a Diabetes Educator
  • Describe diabetes, blood glucose monitoring, physical activity, aspects of diet , and foot-care to patients and/or care-givers
  • Describe pharmacological treatment to patients and/or care-givers on request of their doctor
  • Assess, plan, and explain goals of diabetes management to patients/care-givers and evaluate the changes on their further visits for intervention
  • Apply principles of teaching, learning, and behavior change in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate self-management skills in individuals with diabetes
  • Recognize importance of an interdisciplinary diabetes care team
  • Identify and apply principles of diabetes education program to systematically improve it intheir organization
